An invitation to take part in 'Achieving Great art for everyone' - a consultationBackground/context:
Arts Council England is developing a 10-year strategic framework to focus its development work and inform its investment decisions. As part of this, Arts Council England is consulting with its stakeholders about its understanding of the current landscape of the arts and the areas that need development over the next ten years.
Arts Council England is inviting everyone working or interested in the arts to take part. It wants to hear from all stakeholders - artists, arts organisations and partners. It also wants to hear from commercial, amateur and voluntary arts organisations, and from audiences - to deliver its mission of great art for everyone it knows it must look beyond the publicly funded sector. Arts Council England will combine what it learns from the consultation with its own research to finalise its thinking, which it will publish later in 2010.
The arts have flourished in the last 15 years, and there is now a genuine acceptance that they are part of our fabric as a nation. The Arts Council want to build on that strength, but in our constantly changing environment we need to work together to achieve the very best for the arts.
From mid January to April 2010 Arts Council will be consulting on the future priorities for the arts. Your views on the current arts environment, now and post election; the next funding settlement from government, artistic assessment, self assessment framework and future priorities will inform our long term strategic framework and our next set of investment decisions.
