Bilston Craft Gallery Call for exhibitorsBilston Craft Gallery is the largest venue in the West Midlands dedicated to the applied arts. It has a lively programme of temporary exhibitions featuring the very best in contemporary craft including ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, metal and woodwork by established and emerging makers. The Gallery also offers engagement opportunities for all ages including handling objects, events, creative workshops, and Craftplay - our specialist early years programme for 0-7 year olds.
We are currently seeking potential exhibitors for the following exhibition: Drawn to Craft21 July – 22 September 2012Brief Drawn to Craft will bring together work which explores the graphic line in contemporary craft across a wide range of media. Many designer makers incorporate the drawn line in their work in diverse ways from sgraffito or surface etching to wire or stitch. We hope to showcase work where the materials and context of contemporary craft challenge and stretch the practice and interpretation of drawing.
We are seeking work by established and emerging designer makers, working within ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, metal and wood, for whom the manipulation of line is intrinsic to their practice and the objects they produce. Proposals are welcomed from makers in the field of contemporary craft working in a variety of media and techniques, and using line in both an abstract and an illustrative style.
