Designing for a Manufacturer Booklet

The Case Study booklet, Designing for a Manufacturer, has been produced as a practical guide for designer makers and is based on the experiences of Lucian Taylor, a studio silversmith, who worked alongside a manufacturing silversmith.

The idea of such a Case Study emerged out of the CONNECT Conference 2007, organised by the Association of British Designer Silversmiths (now the Contemporary British Silversmiths), which explored ways of developing a future working relationship between designers and manufacturers.

Included with the Case Study is a CD-ROM containing an outline Manufacturing and Licence Agreement drawn up by Briffa, a firm of solicitors specialising in the Creative Industries, produced in consultation with the members of the Contemporary British Silversmiths.  Although initiated by the Silver sector, this case study and agreement is relevant and can be applied to a range of creative disciplines.

Copies of the Case Study Booklet can be obtained from the contemporary British Silversmiths.  Please email your request to info@theabds.co.uk
